Chinese researcher removed from Canada's microbiology lab

Chinese virologist Qiu Xiangguo was escorted out of the Canada’s National Microbiology Laboratory (NML) in Winnipeg, Canada on July 5 for the alleged "policy breach", Canadian media reported on Sunday.

Dr. Qiu was removed from the laboratory along with her husband and an unknown number of her students by Canadian intelligence.

Qiu is an internationally well-known virologist who helped develop ZMapp, a treatment for the deadly Ebola virus with her colleague Gary Kobinger.
