Carried out by the China Railway Engineering 4, the construction of the No. 79 portal pier of the DK1203 giant bridge of Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway achieved a breakthrough on Wednesday that 16 H-shaped steel bars were installed over a ramp of a highway.
It is the last special construction structure of the railway project towards Jakarta.
The completion marks another great milestone of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway construction project amid the global pandemic and also of great significance for the entire railway project.
The No. 79 portal pier is about 10 meters tall and spans 24 meters, with a 4 meters tall beam. To avoid any accidents on the expressway transportation, the construction permit approved by the Indonesian Public Works Department only allows the expressway to be closed for 4 hours. All the work must be completed during this period. The project applied for closing the section of expressway from midnight to 4am on Wednesday, and all the passing vehicles will bypass through the interim road built in advance.
The Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway is about 142 kilometers long with a maximum design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It adopts the standard technology of China's railway, which are safe, reliable, technologically advanced and mature in operation, and is tailored to Indonesia's local climate, road conditions, cultural traditions and living habits of the people along the route, so as to meet the aesthetic and travel needs of the Indonesian people. When the construction is completed, travel time between Jakarta and Bandung will be shortened from over three hours to 40 minutes, which will not only effectively reduce the traffic pressure along the route and comfortable travel experience for local people, but also upgrade local investment environment, promote local commercial and tourism development, while accelerate the formation of high-speed railway economic corridor to bring more benefit to the Indonesian people.
