COPENHAGEN, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has introduced a bill in parliament that would administratively strip people with dual citizenship who have joined Islamic State (IS) militant groups abroad of their Danish nationality, the prime minister's office said in a press release on Monday.

"There is a risk that the Kurdish-controlled IS camps in the border area will collapse and that foreign warriors with Danish citizenship will move toward Denmark," Fredriksen said in the statement, adding that the IS fighters "pose a threat to our security. They are undesirable in Denmark."

In response to the unstable situation, which could precipitate the early release of captured IS fighters in the area of conflict, Frederiksen's government asked the Danish parliament to urgently pass the bill.

The prime minister's motion was supported by her own party, the Social Democrats, and most members of parliament.
