New Delhi (People's Daily) - United Airlines temporarily halted Flights to New Delhi because of pollution and it will cancel some extra charges for passengers who need to reschedule, Bloomberg reported on November 12.

A United Airlines spokesperson said that the carrier is monitoring advisories and is “coordinating with respective government agencies.”

It was not clear if other airlines would follow United Airlines’ move.

Air monitoring agency SAFAR told India media PTI that Delhi’s air quality once again entered the “emergency” category on Saturday. Pollution in Delhi continues on Sunday, forcing lots of flights and trains to be delayed or cancelled.

US embassy monitor showed that PM2.5 in India surged to 676 at 2pm local time. World Health Organization guidelines suggest levels above 300 are “hazardous”.
