DRC confirms first case of COVID-19

Johannesburg (People’s Daily) -- Minister of Health for the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Dr Eteni Longondo, confirmed on Tuesday the first positive case of coronavirus in the capital Kinshasa.

The patient is a Belgian citizen who had been in the Congo for several days.

He and others with him have been placed in quarantine, Longondo said.

Coronavirus cases have been confirmed in 11 countries on the African continent, with a total of more than 100 cases.
