Egypt (People’s Daily) - Egyptians across the country are celebrating Eid al-Fitr, a holiday marking the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan.
Amid government efforts that include slashing fuel and electricity subsidies and imposing a value-added tax and currency floatation, families were still able to meet just as they do every year at places like Al-Azhar Park or along the banks of the Nile River, and even Tahrir Square.
Local media reported that by 8 pm downtown Cairo was congested with holiday traffic.
