Cairo (People’s Daily) – 110 new cases of COVID-19 and 9 new fatalities were confirmed in Egypt as of Wednesday evening, said a statement from the country’s health ministry.

The number of cases has risen to 1,560 with the number of fatalities at 103, while 305 people have recovered.

The country on the same day extended a nationwide curfew by two weeks until April 23, Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said, as the country’s coronavirus infection tally continues to rise.

The closure of schools and universities and the decision to slash the number of state employees going to work will be extended for the same period.
