CAIRO, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian experts on Wednesday stressed the importance of achieving common development, coexistence and mutual benefit among civilizations.

At a seminar held by the Chinese Embassy in Cairo, the experts affirmed their rejection against the US trade war against China.

Essam Sharaf, former Egyptian prime minister and a member of the Silk Road NGO Cooperation Network forum, said it is "an American endeavor to impose hegemony on the international community and the global system."

He noted that the world is currently facing huge challenges due to isolationism, protectionist policies and weak global governance.

The expert urged cooperation and partnership to face these challenges, noting that the Belt and Road Initiative is a platform for cooperation as China is carrying out many projects in African and Arab countries, which no other country has done before.

Sharaf added that the world should be more faithful to the concept of building a community with a shared future for humanity, which has been put forward by China and incorporated in a number of UN documents.

Emad al-Azrak, head of the Chinese Studies Unit of the Dialogue Center for Political and Strategic Studies, also stressed the importance of the community concept.

He added that this proposal would create a new pattern based on cooperation, dialogue and exchange of benefits rather than exhaustion, conflict and exploitation.
