At least seven people were killed and 22 others injured, some of them critically, on Saturday after a mini-van rammed into an electric pole and skidded off the hilly road in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, officials said.

The accident took place in the Javadhumalai area of Tirupathur district, about 236 kilometers west of Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu.
