At least two people were killed and several others injured when a tornado moved through multiple southern U.S. states, Xinhua News Agency reported on Thursday, citing local media.

As of 10:15 a.m. CDT, some 14,000 customers were without power in Louisiana and Mississippi, while more than 19,000 outages were reported in Texas, according to the report.

Weather.com meteorologists have forecast that scattered severe storms will move into the southern Great Lakes area on Wednesday, potentially packing damaging wind gusts and an isolated tornado threat.
