Chief Medical Officer of Hungary Cecilia Muller confirmed on Tuesday the country's first case of monkeypox, according to local news agency MTI.

The patient is a 38-year-old man and health authorities are still investigating whether he travelled abroad recently, she said.

On the same day, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (FHI) confirmed the first case of monkeypox in the county of Viken.

The infected person had recently travelled abroad, and the case is linked to the ongoing outbreak in Europe, the FHI said.
