BOGOTA, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Two police officers were injured in northeast Colombia as their patrol vehicle hit a pre-arranged explosive device in the road, local authorities said on Monday.

The incident occurred in the country's northeast department of Norte de Santander.

Santander Police Chief Fabian Ospina told reporters that the two policemen, both of whom were members of the national anti-terrorism unit, were heading to a checkpoint in rural Tibu at the time.

The blast wounded the policemen's arms and legs, and both of them were taken to a nearby hospital.

Ospina said authorities will investigate to find those responsible for the attack.
