YANGON, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- The confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 130,049 with 2,826 deaths in Myanmar on Saturday, according to a Health Ministry release.

The Asian country recorded 566 new infections and 14 more deaths from the coronavirus epidemic in the past 24 hours, the release said.
A total of 113,550 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals so far in Myanmar.
According to the ministry's release, the daily virus test positivity rate stands currently at 2.9 percent, remaining under 5 percent since Dec. 18.
Over 1.98 million samples have been tested for COVID-19 since the first infection was detected in Myanmar on March 23 last year.
