The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 520,634 with the global confirmed cases reaching 10,836,500 as of 10:30 am BJT on Friday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University (JHU).

The US count of confirmed cases has surpassed 2.7 million to reach 2,735,554, with 128,742 deaths, according to the university's latest tally.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 1,496,858 with 61,884 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

Russia has confirmed 660,231 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 9,668.

India has confirmed a total of 604,641 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 17,834.

Peru has reported 292,004 COVID-19 cases and 10,045 deaths from the virus so far.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 285,268, with the number of deaths at 44,080, according to the JHU virus tracker.

A total of 284,541 people in Chile have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 5,920.

Spain has recorded 250,103 confirmed cases and 28,368 deaths.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 34,818 lives in Italy, bringing the total number of infections to 240,961.

It is followed by Mexico with 29,189 deaths from 238,511 infections.
