The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 2,971,130 with the global confirmed cases reaching 138,021,474 as of 10:00 am BJT on Thursday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

The outbreak has now claimed 564,388 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 31,420,418 infections, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 10:00 am BJT on Thursday.

India has confirmed a total of 13,873,825 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 172,085.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 13,673,507 with 361,884 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

France has recorded 5,210,772 confirmed cases and 99,936 deaths.

Russia has confirmed 4,613,646 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 102,275.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 4,393,328, with the number of deaths at 127,407, according to the JHU virus tracker.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 34,734 lives in Turkey, bringing the total number of infections to 4,025,557.

A total of 3,809,193 people in Italy have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 115,557.

It is followed by Spain with 76,756 deaths from 3,387,022 infections.

Germany has reported 3,067,697 COVID-19 cases and 79,234 deaths from the virus so far.
