Globally, as of 8:47am CEST on Thursday, there have been 6,366,788 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 383,262 deaths, reported to WHO.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 107,175 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 1,851,520, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 3:33 pm BJT on Wednesday.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 584,016 with 32,548 deaths.

Russia has confirmed a total number of infections to 431,715. The death toll grew to 5,208.

Another 359 COVID-19 patients have died in the UK as of Tuesday afternoon, bringing the total coronavirus-related death toll in the country to 39,728, the Department of Health and Social Care said Wednesday. As of Wednesday morning, 279,856 people in Britain have tested positive for the disease, a daily increase of 1,871, said the department.

It is followed by Spain with 240,326 infections and 27,128 deaths, Italy with 233,836 cases and 33,601 deaths. 

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 217,187. The death toll grew to 6,088.

France has confirmed a total number of infections to 188,802. The death toll grew to 29,024.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Germany have increased to 184,427 with 8,610 deaths.

Peru has confirmed a total number of infections to 178,914. The death toll grew to 4,894.
