The EU reached an agreement Tuesday to ban the import of several products considered "main drivers of deforestation", according to a statement from the European Commission.

"When the new rules enter into force, all relevant companies will have to conduct strict due diligence if they place on the EU market," said the body. The products include palm oil, wood, beef and coffee derived from deforested land.
