LOS ANGELES, May 12 (Xinhua) -- A lightning-caused wildfire scorched over 36,000 acres in northwest Arizona, interstate incident information system InciWeb reported Tuesday.

The fire, dubbed Basin Fire, occurred Sunday afternoon in Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument near the Arizona-Nevada border, 27 km north of the Grand Canyon.

According to the information updated Tuesday morning, the fire had spread to 36,488 acres with only 5 percent contained. A total of 69 personnel are assigned to the fire and so far there has been no casualty.

A red flag warning is in effect for Tuesday. Fire managers are working hard to extinguish the fire as it is burning in critical tortoise habitat, according to InciWeb.
