Sri Lanka's export performance improves in February

COLOMBO, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's export performance increased by 1.3 percent in February compared to January in 2024, according to the latest data released by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board on Friday.

The data shows that the merchandise export performance in February 2024 amounted to 983.7 million U.S. dollars, which is a modest increase of 0.17 compared to February 2023.

Compared to February 2023, agricultural exports showed a significant increase of 11.82 percent, reaching 255.76 million dollars in February 2024. However, industrial exports experienced a decline of 3.36 percent during the same period, dropping to 727.94 million dollars, according to the board.

Sri Lanka's total exports for 2023 were 14.49 billion dollars, a minor decline of 0.39 percent compared to 2022, according to the data released earlier.
