DHAKA, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- At least 6 people were killed and 13 others injured after a fierce fire tore through a residential building in the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, on Friday morning.
Mohammad Rafi Al Faruk, a duty officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defence control room, told Xinhua that the fire broke out on the first floor of the six-story building at 7:54 a.m. local time.
"Bodies of three persons were retrieved after several firefighting units doused the blaze at around 10 a.m.," he said.
Nazmul Shakib, a duty officer at Dhaka's Uttara West Police Station, said another three died after being rushed to a hospital, bringing the death toll to six.
Apart from them, the police official said, ten of the thirteen injured people are currently receiving treatment across several hospitals.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
