BISHKEK, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan's gross domestic product (GDP) surged 11.1 percent last year to reach 22.6 billion U.S. dollars, according to official data released on Monday.

The service sector accounted for 51.2 percent of total GDP, goods-producing sectors for 34.4 percent, and net taxes on products for 14.4 percent, according to preliminary estimates by the National Statistical Committee.

Last year, industrial output registered a 10.6-percent increase. The construction sector grew by 21.1 percent; wholesale and retail trade by 17.8 percent; agriculture, forestry, and fisheries by 2.2 percent; and hotel and restaurant services by 14.3 percent. Freight transportation volume also went up by 12.2 percent.

In terms of foreign trade, Kyrgyzstan's total trade volume from January to November last year exceeded 14 billion U.S. dollars, down 12.2 percent year on year. Exports declined by 43.5 percent, while imports witnessed a slight uptick of 0.5 percent.
