Police said the crash occurred in the town of Luna and killed two men and a woman, all passengers of the jeepney.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), the government agency that oversees public utility vehicle operations, immediately sent a team to investigate after confirming the fatal road crash.
The dump truck driver lost control of the vehicle due to speeding and slippery road conditions, resulting in a collision with a passenger jeepney traveling in the opposite direction, the LTFRB said in a statement.
The agency said the strong impact caused the jeepney to overturn, throwing some passengers out and detaching its roof.
The eight injured victims, including the jeepney driver, were rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
