PHNOM PENH, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia had detained 988 drug-related suspects in 376 cases during January this year, down 24.6 percent over the same month last year, said an Anti-Drug Department (ADP)'s report on Monday.

"A total of 526.3 kilograms of illicit drugs had been confiscated from those suspects' possession during the period from January 1 to 31, 2026," the report said.
It added that the amount of confiscated narcotics represented a rise of 24.3 percent from January 2025.
Most of the confiscated narcotics were ketamine, ecstasy, heroin, crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine pills, cocaine, and cathinone.
The Southeast Asian country has no death sentence for illicit drug traffickers. Under its law, those found guilty of trafficking more than 80 grams of illicit drugs could be imprisoned for life.
