The unveiling took place at the National Aviation Infrastructure Show in Moscow. Designed for passenger transport, monitoring missions and flight training, the Mi-34M1 is expected to fill a market niche previously dominated by foreign light helicopters, the company said.

The helicopter completed its maiden test flight on Dec. 30, 2025, powered by the VK-650V engine, Russia's first domestically developed engine for light helicopters with a maximum takeoff weight of up to four tons.

The Mi-34M1 is a modernized version of the Mi-34S family of light helicopters. According to its developers, the new model will enhance Russia's capabilities in light helicopter manufacturing and support the localization of key aviation technologies.
