PYONGYANG, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) will convene its 9th congress in late February in the capital, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported Sunday.
The decision was adopted unanimously on Saturday at a meeting of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, said the KCNA report. The meeting was guided by Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the WPK, and presided over by Jo Yong Won, presidium member of the political bureau and secretary of the WPK Central Committee.
The Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee decided on the key agenda items concerning the upcoming congress, including qualifications of the delegates to the Party congress, the schedule and the documents to be submitted to the congress, said the report.
The WPK's 8th congress was held in January 2021 in Pyongyang.
