China said Tuesday if Japan sincerely seeks to develop China-Japan strategic relations of mutual benefit, it should demonstrate its sincerity for dialogue through concrete actions.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks during a routine press briefing in Beijing when asked to comment on media reports that Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said Monday she is open to dialogue with China after sparking a row in last November with comments about China's Taiwan region.
"It's simple and clear: Japan should withdraw Takaichi's erroneous remarks on Taiwan-related issues, abide by the four political documents between China and Japan and the political commitments made by the Japanese side," said Lin.
"Genuine dialogue should be based on mutual respect and adherence to common understandings. No one will accept a dialogue if the other side keeps calling for talks while engaging in confrontation," he said.
