Turkish military says missile allegedly from Iran intercepted before entering Turkish airspace

ISTANBUL, March 4 (Xinhua) -- The Turkish Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday that a ballistic projectile allegedly launched from Iran was successfully intercepted by NATO air and missile defense units deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean.

According to a statement from the ministry, the missile passed through Iraqi and Syrian airspace before heading toward Turkish airspace.
The ministry provided no additional details regarding the type of missile or specific defensive systems involved in the interception.
