SYDNEY, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Two men were hospitalized on Sunday night after they were injured in separate shootings that occurred around one hour apart in western Sydney.
Police officers were called to the first shooting in the suburb of Lalor Park, 28 km west of central Sydney, around 8:45 p.m. and were told that unknown people had fired multiple shots from a home, hitting a 29-year-old man who was on the street.
He was treated for a gunshot injury by ambulance paramedics before being taken to a hospital in a stable condition.
A crime scene was established and a 46-year-old man was arrested at a property on the street following a coordinated response by specialist police officers.
Shortly after the first shooting, emergency services were called at 9:55 p.m. to reports of shots fired at a house in Bass Hill, 16 km south of Lalor Park.
A vehicle believed to be linked to the shooting was found on fire nearby a short time later and a 25-year-old man presented to a hospital. with gunshot wounds.
He was treated for wounds to his leg, arm and chest and was in a serious but stable condition as of Monday morning.
Police have issued an appeal to the public for CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage related to either incident as investigations continue.
