PYONGYANG, March 11 (Xinhua) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Tuesday strongly denounced the acts of aggression by the United States and Israel against Iran, the official Korean Central News Agency reported Wednesday.

"We express serious concern over and strongly denounce the acts of aggression by the US and Israel that are destroying the regional peace and security foundations and escalating instability worldwide by mounting illegal military attack on Iran," a spokesperson for the country's Foreign Ministry was quoted as saying Tuesday.

The DPRK respects the rights and choice of the Iranian people to elect their supreme leader, the spokesperson said in response to a recent announcement by Iran's Assembly of Experts on the election of the new supreme leader.
