BAGHDAD, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud discussed regional developments during a phone call on Wednesday, emphasizing the importance of joint action to end the war.
A statement by al-Sudani's media office said that the two sides affirmed the importance of joint action and coordination to "stop the war and find peaceful solutions to all crises, away from military options that threaten regional and international peace."
Al-Sudani stressed that Iraq is committed to exerting every possible effort to end the war, noting its negative repercussions on the regional security
He also reiterated Iraq's rejection of being used as a launching ground to target any country, just as it rejects the targeting of its own territory.
For his part, the Saudi crown prince commended Iraq's efforts to preserve the security and stability of the region and the world, it said.
The call came amid heightened regional tensions following joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran starting on Feb. 28, to which Iran responded with missile and drone attacks on Israel and U.S. assets across the Middle East.
