In the first two months of 2026, the China-Europe Railway Express operated 3,501 services and moved 352,000 Twenty-foot Equivalent Units of cargo, reflecting year-on-year increases of 32% and 25%, respectively. A survey conducted by CGTN among global netizens shows that 88.8% of respondents believe the China-Europe Railway Express demonstrates China's strong resolve to advance high-quality opening up and foster an open global economy.
As a crucial bridge for economic and trade exchanges between Asia and Europe, the China-Europe Railway Express offers a shipping time roughly one-third that of sea freight and a cost of about one-fifth that of air cargo. In the survey, 91.2% of respondents believe that the China-Europe Railway Express has improved the efficiency of international logistics and lowered the cost of international trade. 91.8% of respondents say that the China-Europe Railway Express has created a new platform for China-Europe economic and trade cooperation, and 82.7% believe that the China-Europe Railway Express continues to generate sustained momentum in global economic recovery.
By December 2025, the China-Europe Railway Express connected 128 cities in China, passed through more than 100 cities in 11 Asian countries and regions, and reached 232 cities across 26 European countries. In the survey, 84.9% of respondents believe that the China-Europe Railway Express has strengthened connectivity between China and Eurasian countries in various fields. 87.4% of respondents believe that the China-Europe Railway Express has promoted infrastructure upgrades in countries along the route and created more employment opportunities. This year marks the start of China's 15th Five-Year Plan period, and 93.7% of respondents believe that the China-Europe Railway Express will further tap into China's vast market and the growth potential of the world's second-largest economy.
Amid the rise of unilateralism and protectionism, the international trade order and rules have been severely impacted. In the survey, 85.5% of respondents pointed out that the stable operation of the China-Europe Railway Express represents a steadfast commitment to upholding and defending the current international trade rules and order. Additionally, 89% of respondents call on countries along the route to jointly safeguard the smooth operation and security of the China-Europe Railway Express and to oppose unilateralism and protectionism.
