JAKARTA, March 30 (Xinhua) -- A total of 147.55 million Indonesians traveled during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday season, one of the most important holidays in Indonesia, down from 154.62 million recorded a year earlier, the Ministry of Transportation announced on Monday.

The figure, derived from mobile positioning data, marked a 2.5 percent deviation from the ministry's earlier survey estimate of 143.92 million travelers.
Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi said that the number of public transport passengers rose about 11 percent year on year to 23.54 million, with increases recorded across all modes of transportation.
Police data showed that traffic accidents declined by 6.3 percent to around 3,500 cases during the holiday period. The number of fatalities dropped significantly by 31.1 percent to about 300 deaths.
