BEIJING, April 13 (Xinhua) -- The U.S.-Iran talks held in Pakistan are a step towards the deescalation of the situation, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said on Monday in response to a related query.

"China hopes that all relevant parties will follow the temporary ceasefire arrangement and stay committed to political and diplomatic channels in settling disputes, so as to avoid flare-ups of fighting again and create conditions for the early restoration of peace and tranquility in the Gulf region," spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a daily press briefing.
