Chinese President Xi Jinping's special envoy, Losang Jamcan, attended the presidential inauguration ceremony of Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh on Saturday.
Losang Jamcan, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, conveyed President Xi's warm congratulations to Guelleh, saying that under the strategic leadership of the two heads of state in recent years, the China-Djibouti comprehensive strategic partnership has deepened steadily. China stands ready to work with Djibouti to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, carry forward the traditional friendship, expand practical cooperation, and promote greater development of bilateral relations.
Guelleh asked Losang Jamcan to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi and thanked Xi for sending a special envoy to attend his inauguration ceremony. He said that China has always been a trustworthy partner of Djibouti and that Djibouti is willing to further strengthen solidarity and cooperation with China, enhance friendly exchanges across various fields, maintain close coordination in international affairs, and push Djibouti-China relations to a new level.
Guelleh, re-elected in the April 11 presidential election, was sworn in on Saturday for a sixth term.
