The LNG carrier "Al Kharaitiyat" transmitted its position via the Automatic Identification System on Saturday, indicating that it had entered the Strait of Hormuz. Updated tracking data on Sunday showed that it had successfully crossed the strait and entered the Gulf of Oman.

According to information available, the vessel is the first Qatari LNG carrier to pass through the Strait of Hormuz since the United States and Israel launched military strikes against Iran on Feb. 28.

Tracking data also showed that the vessel used a newly established shipping corridor recently activated by Iran. Some analysts believe this may be related to mediation efforts by countries, including Pakistan, aimed at easing U.S.-Iran tensions.
