TEHRAN, May 16 (Xinhua) -- At least 10 people were wounded in a massive fire that erupted Saturday at an engine oil production factory in Iran's northwestern East Azarbaijan province, state-run IRIB news agency reported.

The fire, which broke out at an industrial park in Maragheh County, was reported at around noon, following which seven rescuers were immediately sent to the scene, IRIB quoted Mohammad Hossein Kabadi, deputy for operations at the Iranian Red Crescent Society's Relief and Rescue Organization, as saying.

The official news agency IRNA reported that firefighting teams as well as ambulances were also immediately dispatched, adding that despite efforts by the firefighters, the blaze has not been contained yet, and a thick layer of smoke has overcast the area.

It said the factory is one of the country's largest engine oil production units with over 400 employees.
