KABUL, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Five commuters were killed and another was injured due to a road accident in Wardak province, east of Afghanistan, on Saturday evening, provincial police spokesman Yusuf Israr said Sunday.

Blaming reckless driving for the deadly mishap, the official asserted that a car collided with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction on Saturday evening, as a result, five travelers lost their lives at the scene and another was seriously injured.

A similar accident also left one dead in the northern Faryab province early Saturday.
