8 killed, 33 injured in tourist bus crash in western Türkiye

ISTANBUL, May 31 (Xinhua) -- Eight people were killed and 33 others injured after a tourist bus crashed into a guardrail in western Türkiye early Sunday, local media reported.

The bus, carrying 38 passengers and three crew members, was traveling from the city of Izmir to the Mediterranean resort city of Antalya when it struck a guardrail and caught fire on the Denizli-Aydin highway in Denizli Province, according to broadcaster NTV.

The driver and a nine-month-old baby were among the dead. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The cause of the crash has yet to be determined.
