BEIJING, June 6 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 jolted Balleny Islands region at 2058 GMT on Friday, the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10 km, was initially determined to be at 61.8 degrees south latitude and 161.5 degrees east longitude.
