YAOUNDE, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Eleven people have been killed in a conflict between farmers and herders in Chad on Saturday, local media reported.

The violence erupted in several villages in the Kim sub-prefecture of Mayo-Kebbi East province after a herd of livestock ravaged a farm.

Five people were also injured, and houses in several villages were torched.

Conflicts between farmers and herders over land are common in Chad. Cyclical intercommunal clashes left 3,018 people dead and 3,015 injured in Chad between 2024 and 2025, according to the latest data released by the country's Ministry of Public Security and Immigration.
