MOSCOW, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Russian forces carried out seven retaliatory strikes over the past week targeting infrastructure facilities used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry said Friday.
"Between June 6 and June 12, ... the Russian forces delivered two massive strikes and five group strikes employing high-precision weapons and attack drones," the defense ministry said in a briefing.
The ministry added that the strikes successfully hit fuel and energy infrastructure, transport and port facilities utilized by the Ukrainian forces, military airfields, ammunition depots, sites for the assembly, storage, preparation and launch of long-range drones and unmanned boats, as well as temporary deployment hubs housing Ukrainian armed units and foreign mercenaries.
"Air defense systems shot down 74 guided aerial bombs, 11 US-made HIMARS rockets, four Flamingo ground-launched cruise missiles, three Neptune long-range guided missiles, and 4,776 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles," the ministry said.
