The memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Iran and the United States to end the war will not be signed on Sunday due to "the other side's hesitation," Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency reported Saturday, citing Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei.

Meanwhile, the Iranian Students' News Agency, also citing Baqaei, reported Saturday that the MoU could be signed "in the coming days."

Any potential MoU between Iran and the United States "will merely serve as a framework for continuing talks," and should not be considered as "a final agreement," it noted.

"The issues being negotiated are highly complex," with the current stage mainly focusing on ending the war and tensions, it reported.

Concerning the nuclear issue, negotiations and specialized discussions are set to continue over a 60-day period, it added.

Over recent weeks, Iran and the United States have exchanged several peace proposals through Pakistan's mediation, and have been working to finalize an MoU to end the war.

On Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States had "just made a great settlement of the war with Iran," with an agreement expected "over the next few days."

On Friday night, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi told state-run IRIB TV that the signing of the MoU could take place within the next few days, and that upon finalized, the MoU would be signed digitally by both sides in their respective countries and then announced.

Earlier on Saturday, Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wrote on social media platform X that a peace deal between the United States and Iran is expected to be finalized within the next 24 hours, and that Pakistan is preparing for the electronic signing of the peace deal immediately after.
