Historic dragon boat race kicks off in Pakistan

Islamabad (People's Daily) — A boat race jointly organized by the Pakistan Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) provincial government and China Window, a Chinese cultural center based in KPK, took place on Sunday morning. The event attracted more than 100 racers from all walks of life across the province. Held on the banks of the Kabul River, the competition is considered the largest dragon boat race that the nation has ever seen.

The championship was jointly won by the KPK Police team and the Charsadda team, which represents a district within KPK. The Sports Writers Association team secured second position, while the Peshawar High Court team finished third.

The inclusion of female rowers stood out as one of the festival's most notable features. A large crowd of local citizens, youth and families gathered along the riverbanks to witness the historic event.
