The move was seen as a way to ensure domestic availability of petroleum products. The excise duty on petrol exports remained unchanged.
In an official announcement, the federal Ministry of Finance's Department of Revenue increased the export duty on diesel to 14 Indian rupees per litre from 13.5 Indian rupees per litre, and that on export of aviation turbine fuel to 12.5 Indian rupees per litre from 9.5 Indian rupees per litre.
