Since April this year, the Islamabad Capital Police and Islamabad Traffic Police have ordered nearly 100 EVs from BYD. The manufacturer has already delivered 58 of these vehicles in batches—primarily the Sealion 07 EV and ATTO 2 models—with the remainder of the order expected to be fulfilled by the end of this month. According to the Islamabad Capital Police, this marks the first time the Pakistani government has procured and deployed EVs on such a large scale.

Speaking at the ceremony, Muhammad Haroon Joya, Deputy Inspector General of Traffic and Director General of Safe City for the Islamabad Capital Police, noted that the delivery expands upon the traffic police's initial integration of BYD vehicles. He emphasized the department's ongoing commitment to upgrading its fleet with cleaner, more efficient transportation solutions that support operational mobility while reducing fuel consumption, lowering operating costs and cutting emissions.

Liu Xueliang, Vice President of BYD, stated that the company has been exporting electric vehicles to Pakistan since March 2025, selling nearly 10,000 units across various models to date. "As Pakistan seeks to reduce its dependence on imported petroleum products and protect the environment, the adoption of electric vehicles across both public and private sectors will play an increasingly critical role," Liu said. He added that BYD remains committed to supporting this transition through advanced technology, a diverse portfolio of new energy vehicles and continuous investment in Pakistan's electrification goals.
