Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi met on Sunday with the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye in Cairo to discuss regional developments and the implementation of the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding (MoU), the Egyptian presidency said in a statement.
The meeting came as Cairo hosted the fourth meeting of the quadrilateral group comprising Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Türkiye, represented by Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, Saudi Arabia's Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Pakistan's Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and Türkiye's Hakan Fidan, the statement said.
Sisi said that recent regional developments have highlighted the central role of the four countries "as key pillars of regional security and stability," stressing the importance of developing this consultative mechanism into "an effective institutional framework capable of formulating comprehensive and sustainable solutions to the region's crises."
He reiterated Egypt's welcome of the U.S.-Iran MoU and praised Pakistan's effective role in "bringing viewpoints closer and bridging gaps between the two sides."
The Egyptian president also underscored Egypt's commitment to continue working with Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Türkiye, and all Arab and regional countries to support the MoU's implementation and the success of the negotiation process between the two sides.
He also underlined the need to reach "a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause," describing it as "a fundamental prerequisite for achieving lasting and comprehensive stability in the region."
On a final agreement between the United States and Iran, the Egyptian president emphasized that it must guarantee the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council states and all Arab countries, address their concerns, and ensure "respect for state sovereignty and territorial integrity."
The Pakistani, Saudi, and Turkish ministers said that the meeting reaffirmed Egypt's firm position of "constructive and positive engagement" in efforts to support peace and stability at the regional and international levels.
Following months of conflict, Washington and Tehran have recently signed the MoU as an interim step toward a final agreement.
