Fire engulfs over 400 stalls at Islamabad bazaar

Islamabad (People's Daily) - A massive fire broke out on Tuesday evening at the Sunday Bazaar in Sector H-9 of Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan, causing widespread destruction as more than 400 stalls stretching across 10 sections were gutted before rescue crews could bring the flames under control.

The affected stalls primarily sold footwear and garments. No casualties have been reported so far as the fire broke out at night.

Rescue officials stated that the blaze spread rapidly through the densely packed market. Local firefighters from Islamabad worked through the inferno, while additional fire engines were rushed in from nearby Rawalpindi to assist in the emergency response. Local authorities have pointed to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders as a potential cause of the fire.
