MOSCOW, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Claims that BRICS is hatching plans to create an alternative currency to the U.S. dollar are "incorrect," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.

"This is an incorrect claim that BRICS is hatching plans to create some kind of alternative currency to the U.S. dollar," Peskov said during the 12th International Forum "Primakov Readings."
"BRICS simply comprises countries that are deprived of the right to use reserve currencies, or whose access to such reserve currencies has been restricted," Peskov said.
Therefore, he added, the push to boost the share of settlements in national currencies is ongoing.
