TASHKENT, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan has seized a total of 2.304 tonnes of illicit narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances since the beginning of this year, according to data released by the country's State Security Service.

The seized substances consisted mainly of cannabinoids and heavy opiates, along with a rising proportion of synthetic psychoactive drugs. The confiscated haul included 1.567 tonnes of hashish, 312.8 kg of opium, 231.1 kg of marijuana, 78.9 kg of various synthetic drugs, and 29.3 kg of heroin, as well as more than 300,000 units of potent pharmaceutical products.
During the period, security authorities also shut down six domestic illegal workshops engaged in packaging potent pharmaceutical preparations smuggled from abroad under the guise of legal consumer goods.
In response to the cross-border nature of drug trafficking, the State Security Service has strengthened cooperation with its counterparts in Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
As part of this cooperation, 19 joint operations, including controlled deliveries, were carried out during the 2025-2026 period. During these operations, 33 members of transnational criminal groups were detained, drug supply channels were dismantled with more than 506 kg of narcotics seized.
