PHNOM PENH, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian People's Party (CPP) President Samdech Techo Hun Sen said on Sunday that the ruling party has overcome numerous challenges to achieve historic successes in national defense, peace-building, reconstruction, and development.

In a message marking the party's 75th founding anniversary, Hun Sen said that throughout this period, the party has stood with the people, shared their joys and sorrows, overcome all obstacles, and dared to make great sacrifices for an independent, peaceful, free, democratic, neutral, and socially progressive Cambodia.
"On this basis, the people have clearly witnessed the true nature of the CPP as a party of the people, by the people, and for the people -- a party possessing sufficient energy and capacity to lead Cambodia toward a glorious future," he said.
"Consequently, the CPP has consistently achieved victory in all democratic elections, both at the national and sub-national levels," he added.
The CPP has governed the Southeast Asian nation since 1979.
Hun Sen, who is also the president of the Senate, said that despite the negative impacts of complex international developments and border dispute with Thailand, Cambodia continued to advance on its developmental path during the first six months of 2026.
"Specifically, we have maintained political stability, security, social order and safety as well as macroeconomic stability and the stability of our citizens' living conditions," he said.
He added that Cambodia's economy is projected to grow by 4.2 percent in 2026, supported by robust food security, a significant rise in exports, and increased tax revenue.
"We have striven to transform difficulties into opportunities for self-strengthening and expansion by diligently expanding domestic production, boosting the consumption of national products, and maximizing tax revenue collection," he said.
